SAMI KHEDIRA: STUTTGART CAREER EXAMINED
German midfielder Sami Khedira played at TV Oeffingen before he joined the VfB youth team in 1995. Sami Khedira was called up to VfB Stuttgart first team squad by manager Armin Veh during the first months of the 2006/07 season. He made his Stuttgart debut shortly after his invitation to the Bundesliga squad at Stuttgart.
It didn’t take long before Sami Khedira scored for Stuttgart. The German national team star announced his arrival on the big stage with two goals against Schalke 04 at the Mercedes-Benz Arena. His two goals propelled Stuttgart to an impressive 3-0 win at the expense of Schalke 04.
Khediramade a positive impact at the start of his time in the Stuttgart despite the fact that he had not signed a professional contract. He would go on to sign the professional contract on January 29, 2007. Khedira signed a two-and-a-half year deal until June 2009 when he signed his long-awaited professional contract.
Sami Khedira made his biggest contribution in a Stuttgatt shirt when he scored in the last game of the 2006/07season on May 19, 2007. He scored the winner as Stuttgart came from a goal to beat Energie Cottbus.
Stuttgart emerged German Bundesliga champions for the first time in 15 years in 2007 thanks to the win over Cottbus.
Sami Khedira extended his VfB Stuttgart deal on July 9, 2008 as he signed an extension until 2011. In the following season, the German scored a career-high of seven goals in 27 league appearances.
