BACK ON TRACK
The German midfielder Sami Khedira has said that he feels that Real Madrid are back on track once again after managing a 5-0 victory over Valencia during the weekend. Despite having some of the best players in the world, Real Madrid have struggled for form and consistency in the first half of the season. This coupled with several rifts amongst the players and the manager has meant that they have fallen 18 points behind the leaders Barcelona at one stage. As a result of the 5-0 win over Valencia and the loss of Barcelona, they have closed the gap to 15 points.
Further, Real Madrid also remain unbeaten since their return from the winter break. This has led to the midfielder Sami Khedira stating that he feels that the club back on track. Even though the possibility of winning the league title looks to be beyond them, Real Madrid still have the opportunity to challenge in the European competitions like the Champions league. Khedira has accepted that the team has not been up until now, but the past few weeks has given the necessary confidence that they can finish the season on a positive note by winning a major trophy. Real are chasing their 10th European trophy.
“We had a difficult situation, we weren’t doing well, and we talked about it together and saw it was going badly. We’ve worked hard these past weeks and I think we’re moving in the right direction. We’re playing well, really tight, and I think it’s going to give us future results. We have to focus on tomorrow’s match and it doesn’t matter if we’ll play against Barcelona or Malaga. We’re in a good place and I think we can win and move on. We’ll talk about it when we have our spot in the next round,” said Khedira.
