DISCIPLINE COUNTS
Real Madrid’s defensive midfielder Sami Khedira has said that the Spanish club need to have a disciplined approach in order to overturn a 4-1 deficit from the first leg. Real Madrid will be taking on Borussia Dortmund looking to qualify for the Champions League final against all the odds.
Polish striker Robert Lewandowski destroyed Real Madrid by scoring all four goals in the first leg. The away goal from Cristiano Ronaldo has given the Spanish club is like glimmer of hope, but Khedira has said that there is a mountain ahead of them in the hopes of reaching the final.
There is a real danger of both the Spanish clubs being knocked out of the competition after Barcelona suffered a 4-0 defeat in the first leg against German club Bayern Munich. Real Madrid will be facing Dortmund for the fourth time, as the two teams have already met in the group stages earlier in the season. Back then, it was the German team at the upper hand as well. Yet, Khedira is confident that Madrid will be able to progress if they manage to play with balance and patience. He has said that an early goal will help them give confidence that they can win the tie.
“It is important to score a goal early, but at the same time we can’t lose our head. We have to find a middle ground. The manager will prepare us very well for this game because an early goal for the opponent can increase the pressure even more. Therefore we need to pressure Dortmund up front but not from the first minute because the game last 90 minutes and we have already seen how quickly they can score one or more goals,” said Khedira ahead of the match.
The German international has been one of the important players for Madrid, and has been linked to Manchester United according to the man utd football news site.
